Labels suck until they don’t #TalkThatTalkChallenge

I’m going to say the one thing not many others will tell you: we need labels! Labels connect us with others and allows others to better connect us to people, resources, and opportunities. Labels are the reason people like you relate to people like me! We find common ground in our labels such as “hard-working, driven, leader, professional, student, creator, entrepreneur, and etc.”

I understand the seriousness of negative labels and those that others try to place on us, but I don’t want to focus on those here. Mainly because I don’t want you to focus on them either. When we get caught up in labels that don’t build us up (for example, imposter, failure, ugly) we give them too much power. Ultimately, they impact who we see ourselves as, and this alone can stunt our growth and limit our potential.

It’s important to lean in on the labels that make up the greatest parts of who we are – no matter what they are! And, it’s important that we allow others to know how we see ourselves! Truth is: labels suck until they don’t!

That said, I am challenging all students, professionals, entrepreneurs, creators, artists, educators, women, and men alike to lean in on their labels. Talk that that and participate in the #TalkThatTalkChallenge!

All you have to do is post a picture on IG or Facebook with your labels (similar to the one above) and hashtag #talkthattalkchallenge. If you’re feeling spicy, you should tag me too!! I’ll see it right away!

I can’t wait to see everyone’s posts!
