Last-Minute DIY Quick High Bun!

I’ve had multiple requests to drop the deets on this cute, quick high bun I’ve been doing lately. It’s funny because I decided to do this style after having a stylist cancel on me right before Christmas and my Vegas trip! I had never done it before, but I figured it couldn’t be too hard, right? RIGHT! It isn’t hard at all and has easily turned into one of my new favorite go-to hairstyles. This is the perfect look for any scene whether it be chill or lit.

I’ve uploaded a reel on Instagram, but I truly don’t think it did any justice since it walked through each step super fast. So, I’ve decided to upload a short video here (2 minutes and 10 seconds) that will hopefully provide better guidance. I’ve also listed the steps and products for you all as well!

I’d love to see how your high bun turns out! Tag me or send me pics and videos! I can’t wait to see how you body this look, girl!

Step By Step Breakdown

Step 1: Make sure your hair is straight or somewhat straight so that you can get a slick pony effect. You can do this by blowing it out and then flat ironing it or you can just blow it out and run a flat iron over the front area. DON’T FORGET TO USE YOUR HEAT PROTECTOR! These are my faves.

If you don’t want to straighten it or don’t have time, you can just slick it back and use kinky braiding hair instead of straight braiding hair.

Step 2: Add eco styler to your front and back edges to create a smooth overlay and to help with a sleek look as you brush your hair into a ponytail.

Step 3: Brush your hair into a ponytail and make sure it’s sleek all around. Twist the ponytail hair and then secure it into a tight bun that you’ll use to secure the additional hair.

Step 4: Lay your edges and then tie them up so that they can start molding in place. You can do this now or last – just as long as you have time to tie your hair for at least 5 minutes at the end.

Step 5: If the braiding hair doesn’t already have a rubber band around it, go ahead and place one. Use the rubber band to secure the additional hair to the bun you created in step 3.

Step 6: Twist one side of the braiding hair and begin wrapping it around your bun. Be sure to wrap under the other piece of unwrapped hair. Once you’ve wrapped it completely go ahead and bobby pin it down.

Step 7: Repeat step 6 with the other piece, but make sure you start wrapping downward when you are nearing the end of the piece of hair. Be sure to bobby pin that piece down as well.

Step 8: BE THE BADDIE THAT YOU ALREADY ARE!

P.S. If you want a high bun with more volume just increase the inch of the braiding hair that you purchase or change to a brand with more hair in one bundle.
